Creativity at

Eton Farm Primary School

Children learn by doing.  Our experiential, child centred approach encourages children to explore and inquire.  Our program has a strong focus on Music and Art.  We believe the Arts have many advantages for children’s learning, most importantly for self confidence and belief.

Small class sizes allow our teachers to craft a program that empowers children no matter how they learn. Their individualised program and positive learning environment creates an awesome way to learn.

About Eton Farm Education

Eton Farm Education Inc was formed December 2017 with the aim to begin a Primary school in 2020.    Our registration was complete with the Non-Government Schools of WA Education Department in December 2019 and we opened as a Primary School in February, 2020.

In 2021 we will offer Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre-Primary, Year 1, 2 & 3.  In 2022 we hope to offer more years.

The School is governed by a Board of Members. Their role is set out below.

  • development and implementation of an effective strategic direction for the school;
  • development and implementation of effective processes to plan for, monitor and achieve improvements in student learning;
  • effective management of the school’s financial resources in accordance, where relevant, with any purposes for which they were provided; and compliance with all written and other laws that apply to and in respect of the school and the operation of the school.

The School Principal takes care of the day-to-day management and control of the school to be the responsibility and is clearly separated from the overall governance role of the  board.

Parents or guardians of children who attend the school become members of Eton Farm Education Inc. and are welcome to bring their ideas for the school to the Board or Principal

The History of Eton Farm:

Nestled under the Darling Scarp, Eton Farm is an oasis with large trees and gardens started in 1908 by William McKay. For over 100 years, the immediate family has worked the farm, running dairy cows, sheep for wool production/fat lambs and more recently beef cattle and horse agistment. Mary McKay-Walton, great grand-daughter of William McKay, now owns the property and is inspired to turn Eton Farm into a ‘Farm School’ for all children, whilst keeping the charm of the farm that her parent’s, Frank and Isobel McKay, created. With extensive experience in early childhood learning, Mary brings knowledge, passion and a unique approach to child centred learning.

Eton Farm hosts the old house built in 1930 by Mary’s Grandparents, where the school is currently being run.
